Nine years ago, on a rainy day in NYC...two newlyweds giggled over the way New Yorkers wanted to run them over since they were in no hurry at all. They didn't mind the rain that soaked through or the tired feet. They sipped on lattes and walked about 13 miles in one day and made memories that would only become a foundation for many, many more to come.
They are no longer newlyweds, but now thirty-somethings with blessings beyond what they could have dreamed nine years ago as they sat on the Hudson River. At that time they could think only of the excitement of the city, each other, and their recent wedding with the tasty cake and wishing that day could have lasted longer.
A few weeks ago, they found themselves back on the Hudson River, laughing over bland fish tacos, commenting again on the way Yankee fans have a whole different kind of passion for baseball, and praying their babysitter would make it through the night with a fussy, feverish baby.
Life is an adventure...glad I get to live it with my best friend.
(Thanks to the one who made it possible to celebrate again in the Big Apple. We love you!)
A friend recently shared a song on Facebook that keeps coming to me. He is Sovereign over us.
HE IS. So thankful that I can see His fingerprints all over the last nine years of our lives together. The great truths of that song ring loud in my spirit.
"Your plans are still to prosper. You have not forgotten us. You're with us in the fire and the flood. You are faithful forever, perfect in love, You are sovereign over us."
