"In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps." Proverbs 16:9
We had made BIG plans to head back to Honduras on a Mission trip with a group from our church. Jay organized, planned, wrote e-mails, made phone calls, ordered tickets and hotel rooms; we both prayed and met with our team to pray; lined up a wonderful sitter for Hannan and organized fundraisers.
One church wide bake sale, several VBS offerings, and a delicious Hispanic ministry lunch fundraiser later, we had raised all the money we needed for approximately 30 homes to have stove pipes, as well as money for various other projects that we were excited to help with while we were there.
Delicious Creation (by our own Laurie) for the Bake sale
(Thank you to everyone that helped and gave for the trip! We were blessed tremendously and the gifts will be used for Honduras...soon!)
We were excited...and a little nervous about leaving Hannan for so long...but so looking forward to everything this trip held for us and the people of Honduras. Sounds GOOD huh? Gotta be God's plan...it is such a good thing to go...to share...to experience. We had no doubt that the Lord gave us the desire to go, the team to go with, and the funds by which to make it happen.
So why the change in plans???
Timing...Our time...but not HIS.
God was not at all surprised by the change in plans.
"There is a time for everything..." Ecclesiastes 3:1
Due to great political unrest in the country of Honduras, we knew we couldn't possibly go during this time. We know God is sovereign and would watch over us and keep us safe, but we also know that His timing is perfect and He has the BEST plan in mind for us. The door to go has been temporarily closed, but we know when it is His time, it will be reopened for us to go...and WOW...what great timing that will be!
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the Lord.
"As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." Isaiah 55:8-9
I just love that God is not only sovereign, He is also very sweet! He allowed us to head off to St. George Island, Florida for a few days last week. It was a nice escape from work, packing boxes, making house decisions, and the usual daily routine. It was a great get-away just as a family, and the time wasn't nearly long enough!
All packed up and ready to go!
Fun in the Sun!
Daddy built them up; Hannan tore them down; Mama enjoyed watching!
"All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts O God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would out number the grains of sand." Psalm 139:16-18

This brought tears to my eyes, Lela. God's timing is perfect, so we must trust him in all things. Then the pictures of your mini-vacation at the beach were so sweet! I know you all were blessed. Hannan is in my lap right now playing with my cell phone, and I am so grateful for him. Thank you for sharing him with me. I love you all. G'ma Sha
