Decreasing our Carbon Footprints...

We are only a few more days away from moving into our new home! One of the things that we absolutely love about this new house is something that no one else would ever notice now that the sheetrock is up and the ceiling is in place. Our spray foam insulation in the attic and the cellulose insulation in the walls, courtesy of BCI Insulation, was one of the ways in which we were able to "go green" while building.

Even though Jason does work with the company, we were sold on the products from the moment we heard about them. We were excited to see that others are interested in the idea of decreasing energy costs by using products that are also good for the environment. 85% Post-Consumer Recycled Paper called cellulose in our exterior and a few interior walls allows us to cut costs on energy bills by greatly reducing the airflow through to the exterior, while it also provides sound control...inside and out!

The spray foam adheres directly to the underside of the roof decking and eliminates air infiltration completely making the attic much cooler and causing the space to be considered as conditioned.

They offer other ways to save on energy costs and decrease those carbon footprints by using solar energy. We hope in the near future to utilize other opportunities such as those in order to save on energy production, use, and cost.
